Il luogo prende il nome dai mulini ad acqua che erano presenti qui nella valle del torrente. Il torrente che scorre al suo interno si chiama Ri du Moulin. Tuttavia, i mulini ad acqua non sono più presenti.
Moulins-sous-Fléron ha avuto una fabbrica di mattoni attiva dal 1890 al 1964. Il villaggio apparteneva anticamente al comune di Fléron, ma la maggior parte di esso è passata, a seguito della fusione del 1977, nel comune fuso di Beyne-Heusay, in particolare nella sezione comunale di Queue-du-Bois, per dare a questa un territorio più continuativo.
