Van Wijk, un olandese di Rotterdam, è dal 2015 il gestore del Café De Vliegende Hollander a Sint-Blasius-Boekel (frazione del comune di Zwalm, in Fiandre Orientali). "Il cambio di nome è stata la prima cosa che ho fatto, solo che allora non sapevo ancora che fosse anche il soprannome di Mathieu van der Poek. Dal 2019 siamo il suo primo fan club ufficiale in Belgio, con adesso 1.300 membri tramite il nostro gruppo Facebook."
