La cava di Leffe è gestita dall'azienda svizzera Hilcim. L'estrazione della cava di Leffe rappresenta un'importante attività economica per la regione di Dinant e per l'intero settore industriale belga e straniero (circa 10.000 camion all'anno).
Produce calcare utilizzato come aggregati frantumati e sabbia lavata per la produzione di calcestruzzo pronto e prodotti in calcestruzzo, nelle costruzioni stradali per fondazioni e sottofondi in miscele di ghiaia e per applicazioni specifiche nell'industria metallica.
La grande cava di Leffe è spesso erroneamente chiamata cava Montorgueil.
Nel 2015, alcuni dipendenti sono stati condannati per aver rubato 600 tonnellate di pietrisco.
La strada di accesso passa attraverso la valle "Fonds de Leffe". Il Leffe è un corso d'acqua che nasce in un luogo chiamato "Grognaux" vicino al villaggio di Taviet. Si getta nel Mosa direttamente a valle dell'Abbazia di Leffe, che attraversa in una galleria sotterranea. La valle è poco conosciuta ma pittoresca.
