Il monumento presso la fattoria Paul Bekaert è stato eretto in memoria dei tre membri dell'equipaggio del Halifax III LW583 del Nr 432 Squadron RAF, che persero la vita qui nella notte tra l'8 e il 9 maggio 1944.
L'aereo era tornato quella notte da un attacco su Haine-Saint-Pierre, un villaggio di La Louvière. Tuttavia, sulla via del ritorno, il Halifax fu intercettato dai Messerschmitt 110 della IV./NJG 1 che operava dall'aeroporto di Sint-Truiden.
Fu il titolare della Croce di Cavaliere, Hauptmann Georg Hermann Greiner, a dare il colpo di grazia al bombardiere sopra Wevelgem. Il monumento è stato inaugurato il 10 novembre 2002.
