Questo monumento si trova accanto al Sint-Petrus en Pauluskerk sulla Sint-Petrus en Paulusplein a Ostenda.
Il monumento alle vittime della guerra del 1922 di Pieter-Jan Braecke (1859-1938) sorgeva originariamente sulla piazza davanti alla chiesa. Questo monumento è stato demolito nel 1968. La statua in bronzo con il soldato è stata spostata al "De Plate" (Museo storico di Ostenda). I due altorilievi ("La fuga dei pescatori da Ostenda 1914" e "La liberazione 1918") sono stati collocati prima sul sagrato della chiesa lungo il Vindictivelaan e poi, nel 2000, da August Michiels con un nuovo busto del re Alberto I e Regina Elisabetta, accanto alla chiesa.
