Dieses Denkmal befindet sich neben der Sint-Petrus en Pauluskerk am Sint-Petrus en Paulusplein in Ostende.
Das Denkmal für die Opfer des Krieges von 1922 von Pieter-Jan Braecke (1859-1938) befand sich ursprünglich auf dem Platz vor der Kirche. Dieses Denkmal wurde 1968 abgerissen. Die Bronzestatue mit dem Soldaten wurde in 'De Plate' (Historisches Museum in Ostende) verlegt. Die beiden Hochreliefs ("Die Flucht der Ostender Fischer 1914" und "Die Befreiung 1918") wurden zusammen mit einer neuen Büste von König Albert I. und Königin Elisabeth von August Michiels zuerst auf dem Kirchplatz entlang der Vindictivelaan aufgestellt und dann, im Jahr 2000, neben der Kirche.
