Al centro del lato est della Martelarenplein a Leuven si trova il Monumento alla Pace, un monumento in memoria delle vittime della prima guerra mondiale. Questo obelisco risale al 1925, ma fu distrutto dagli occupanti tedeschi durante la seconda guerra mondiale nel 1940. Nel 2004, la città di Lovanio ha restaurato il Monumento alla Pace.
Martelarenplein è la piazza di fronte alla stazione ferroviaria di Leuven nella città belga di Leuven. È una delle piazze aperte più grandi della città, accanto a Ladeuzeplein e Oude Markt, ed è regolarmente utilizzata per eventi grandi e piccoli.
