En el medio del lado este de Martelarenplein en Lovaina se encuentra el Monumento a la Paz, un monumento en memoria de las víctimas de guerra de la Primera Guerra Mundial. Este obelisco data de 1925, pero fue destruido por los ocupantes alemanes durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial en 1940. En 2004, la ciudad de Lovaina restauró el Monumento a la Paz.
Martelarenplein es la plaza frente a la estación de tren de Lovaina en la ciudad belga de Lovaina. Es una de las plazas abiertas más grandes de la ciudad, junto a Ladeuzeplein y Oude Markt, y se usa regularmente para eventos grandes y pequeños.
