Il Wannenlappersbos è il nome del piccolo bosco comunale (da gioco) nella frazione di Zingem. L'intera area ha una superficie di 4,8 ha.
Il nome Wannenlappers si riferisce al passato culturale e storico di questa regione. Fino a poco tempo fa c'era anche un museo privato a Zingem. Era Adelain Goedefroot che con molta passione manteneva viva la storia dei wannelappers di Zingem. Nella registrazione allegata (autunno 2022) Adelain spiega di nuovo cosa sia un wannelapper. Zingem è conosciuta per i suoi wannenmakers e wannenlappers. Con i rami di salice si realizzavano "wannen": ceste piatte per separare la paglia dal grano. Chi riparava queste wannen veniva chiamato "wannenlapper".
I wannenlappers attraversarono tutta la Fiandre e al loro ritorno venivano ampiamente festeggiati. Da qui nasce la tradizione della fiera dei Wannenlappers. Il gigante "Wannes Laps" è l'unico gigante esistente interamente intessuto in canne.
