La società, già membro dell'Unione Europea di Radiodiffusione e azionista del canale d'informazione Euronews, svolge anche un'azione solidale verso i paesi colpiti da catastrofi naturali o guerre attraverso La Catena della Solidarietà.
La SRG SSR è un'azienda di servizio pubblico senza scopo di lucro che si ispira al diritto delle società anonime. È organizzata come una holding nazionale, dotata di quattro società regionali, sette unità di business, quattro unità di organizzazione nazionali e sei filiali e società in partecipazione raggruppanti le attività che contribuiscono al mandato di servizio pubblico, senza esserne direttamente legate.
