Gandesbergen si trova tra il parco naturale Wildeshauser Geest e il parco naturale Steinhuder Meer, circa a metà strada tra Brema e Hannover.
Il comune apparteneva fino al 2010 alla comunità aggregata di Eystrup, che aveva la sua sede amministrativa nel comune di Eystrup. Dal 1º gennaio 2011, questa si è fusa con la comunità aggregata di Grafschaft Hoya, formando la così detta comunità aggregata di Grafschaft Hoya più grande. Il nucleo originale del villaggio delimita le aree di ritenzione del Weser ed è integrato dalle nuove costruzioni erette dopo la seconda guerra mondiale vicino alla linea ferroviaria Hannover-Brema.
