Vrees è un comune facente parte della Samtgemeinde di Werlte e si trova a nord-est dell'Emsland. Con 1830 abitanti, Vrees è uno dei comuni più piccoli della circoscrizione dell'Emsland.
Tra il 1996 e il 2016 Vrees ha attirato l'attenzione grazie ai suoi molteplici successi in competizioni come il Premio europeo per il rinnovamento dei villaggi, il nostro villaggio deve diventare più bello e il nostro villaggio ha un futuro, dal livello del circondario fino a quello europeo.
