Calbecht è uno dei 31 quartieri della città libera di Salzgitter in Bassa Sassonia, situato nel comune di West. Calbecht apparteneva fino al 31 marzo 1942 al distretto di Wolfenbüttel ed è diventato parte della grande città di Watenstedt-Salzgitter attraverso un atto amministrativo il 1° aprile 1942. Il 23 gennaio 1951 è stato ufficialmente rinominato in Salzgitter.
La prima menzione scritta del nome del luogo si trova in un documento dell'imperatore Federico I del 9 maggio 1152. Qui si conferma che il convento di Georgenberg presso Goslar ha acquistato un mulino a Mahner da Conrado de Caltbecht. I primi nomi del luogo sono Calbechte, Calcbechte o Caltbechte, Calcbechte, Calbichte e Calbich. Nel 1548 si trova per la prima volta l'odierna grafia Calbecht.
