Aquisgrana [ˈaːkʃɾana] è una grande città senza distretto nel distretto governativo di Colonia nel nordreno-vestfalia. L'ex città imperiale è membro dell'Associazione paesaggistica della Renania ed è, in base alla legge su Aquisgrana, dal 21 ottobre 2009, sede amministrativa della regione urbana di Aquisgrana. Nel 1890, Aquisgrana superò per la prima volta la popolazione di 100.000 abitanti ed è da allora la grande città tedesca più occidentale. Aquisgrana confina con i Paesi Bassi e il Belgio.
