Il Eder ha una lunghezza di 177 km. È il più lungo affluente della Fulda. L'Eder nasce sull'Ederkopf nei Monti Rothaar. E scorre per la maggior parte in direzione nord-est. All'Edermünde-Grifte, il fiume sfocia nella Fulda. Lungo l'Eder si snoda la pista ciclabile Ederauenradweg, lunga 180 km.
