Il Kniebis è una catena montuosa allungata che raggiunge un'altezza di 971 metri nella Foresta Nera e un villaggio che si trova nella sua parte meridionale. Questo insediamento disperso è attualmente una frazione di Freudenstadt.
Il Kniebis si trova lungo la Schwarzwaldhochstraße, che come strada federale 28 proviene da Freudenstadt e continua da Alexandra Schanze come strada federale 500 verso Baden-Baden. La B 28 prosegue verso Kehl e Strasburgo. La strada statale 96 va verso sud in direzione di Hausach. Il Kniebis è collegato al trasporto pubblico di Freudenstadt.
