Nell'estate del 1858, la madre di Nietzsche, Franziska Nietzsche, si trasferì con i suoi due figli, Friedrich ed Elisabeth, nella casa numero 355, oggi Weingarten 18. Affittò un appartamento luminoso e più spazioso al primo piano. Nel 1878 acquistò la casa e vi rimase fino alla fine dei suoi giorni. Dopo la sua morte nel 1897, la casa fu venduta da sua figlia.
Dal 1994, la Casa di Nietzsche a Naumburg è aperta al pubblico. In un'esposizione permanente viene documentata la vita e l'opera del filosofo, mentre la biblioteca della casa allestita nelle sale espositive offre ai visitatori l'opportunità di familiarizzare con l'opera di Nietzsche.
