Operazione Lumberjack è stata un'operazione militare condotta negli ultimi mesi della Seconda Guerra Mondiale in Europa.
L'operazione è stata lanciata nel marzo 1945 dall'1º esercito americano e aveva lo scopo di conquistare città tedesche strategicamente situate come Colonia e anche di attraversare il fiume Reno.
Il 21 febbraio 1945, l'1º esercito americano ha attraversato il Roer, che i tedeschi avevano lasciato straripare sabotando le chiuse della Schwammenaueldamm. Gli americani conquistarono Colonia il 7 marzo 1945; i tedeschi avevano attraversato il Reno e fatto saltare in aria il ponte Hohenzollern il 6 marzo.
Il sergente Alexander A. Drabik della 9ª divisione corazzata americana guidò le sue truppe il 7 marzo verso la cittadina di Remagen. Raggiunsero il ponte Ludendorff e lo attraversarono sotto pesante fuoco alle 15:50.
