La Bundesautobahn 2 è un'autostrada tedesca. Essa parte dall'intersezione con la A 10 , e attraversa di fatto la Germania da est a ovest, passando per grossi centri come Hannover, e termina all'intersezione con la A 3 .
La costruzione della A 2 è stata decisa tra gli anni 1933 e 1934. Il progetto era unitario tra l'inizio dell'autostrada e Hannover, mentre per il tratto tra Hannover e Berlino c'erano tre possibilità: la prima, passante per Stendal venne scartata per via della scarsa densità abitativa della zona; la seconda venne scartata per lo stesso motivo e per la presenza di zone paludose lungo il tracciato; si decise quindi per la terza ipotesi, quella più a sud, passante per Brandeburgo.
Venne decisa la costruzione di due corsie di 3,75 metri per carreggiata, con uno spazio tra le carreggiate di 4,2 metri.
