La fornace Erbs a Pegau è un monumento tecnico utilizzato come museo. Per le scuole è una meta per giornate escursionistiche ed è utilizzata da queste e da altre istituzioni educative per progetti. La fornace è sotto la tutela dei monumenti ed è affiliata al Museo di Pegau.
Con gli impianti e le attrezzature tecniche preservate e restaurate con moderazione, si può dimostrare come venivano prodotti i mattoni da muratura nella prima metà del XX secolo. La fornace Erbs era una delle piccole aziende tecnicamente arretrate – motivo per cui nel monumento tecnico si può oggi mostrare la fase iniziale della produzione industriale di mattoni. A questo si aggiunge anche il metodo di stampaggio a mano preindustriale.
