La Fachhochschule Potsdam è un'università di scienze applicate nella capitale del Brandeburgo, Potsdam. È stata fondata nel 1991 e ha avviato le attività didattiche nel semestre invernale 1991/92.
Dopo la svolta politica del 1990, è avvenuta anche la rifondazione dello stato federale del Brandeburgo. Il panorama universitario esistente doveva essere ristrutturato in base alle nuove leggi ora in vigore. A Potsdam è stata fondata nel 1991 la Fachhochschule Potsdam, precisamente sui terreni e parzialmente negli edifici di precedenti caserme situate nel Bornstedter Feld e nel quartiere di Neu Fahrland. Nel semestre invernale 1991/92 è iniziato il percorso di studi nel dipartimento di servizi sociali utilizzando edifici vuoti a Neu Fahrland. Il rettore fondatore dell'università è stato Helmut Knüppel. Ancora nell'anno di fondazione, il dipartimento di servizi sociali si trasferì nell'ex Istituto per la formazione degli insegnanti nel centro di Potsdam, in Friedrich-Ebert-Straße.
