L'Ise è un fiume lungo 49,7 km, canalizzato, situato nell'area orientale della Bassa Sassonia, il cui ripristino è in corso dal 1987. Attraversa il distretto di Gifhorn da nord a sud e sfocia nell'Aller a Gifhorn.
La sorgente dell'Ise si trova a un'altitudine di 74 m sul livello del mare, tra Neuekrug e Lüben, mentre la foce si trova a 51 m a Gifhorn. Il fiume è lungo 49,7 km e la sua pendenza è molto lieve, solo dello 0,05%. Le acque dell'Ise scorrono verso l'Aller e il Weser, fino al Mare del Nord. Di norma, il fiume attraversa ampie e pianeggianti praterie lontano dai centri abitati in una zona già scarsamente popolata. Nella valle dell'Ise si è formato il Grande Torbiera.
Durante il corso dell'intero fiume, la sua valle è oggi fortemente influenzata dall'uso agricolo.
