La Deutschlandhaus è oggi un edificio per uffici e attività commerciali nel centro di Essen, lungo Lindenallee. Fu costruito negli anni 1928 e 1929 come municipio tecnico e è considerato il primo grattacielo della città. Dal 1988 è protetto come monumento storico.
Nel XVIII secolo era ancora una zona residenziale privilegiata per i cittadini benestanti, l'area tra Trentelgasse, Kapuzinergasse, Hirschlandplatz e Lindenallee si è rapidamente trasformata in un moderno centro cittadino a seguito della ristrutturazione comunale, che si è soprattutto distinta come quartiere bancario.
