Het Deutschlandhaus is vandaag de dag een kantoor- en winkelpand in het centrum van Essen aan de Lindenallee. Het werd gebouwd in de jaren 1928 en 1929 als technisch stadhuis en wordt beschouwd als het eerste hooggebouw van de stad. Sinds 1988 staat het onder monumentenzorg.
In de 18e eeuw nog een favoriete woonwijk van de welgestelde burgers, ontwikkelde het gebied tussen de Trentelgasse, Kapuzinergasse, Hirschlandplatz en Lindenallee zich snel tot een moderne stadscentrum tijdens de gemeentelijke herindeling, dat zich vooral als zakenwijk manifesteerde.
