L'impianto di chiuse di Kleinmachnow è l'opera architettonica più caratteristica del canale Teltow che collega Berlino e Brandeburgo. È un'attrazione turistica e è protetta come monumento. La pietra angolare della soglia navale è stata posata nel 1901 e cinque anni dopo, nel 1906, si è svolta l'inaugurazione ufficiale da parte dell'imperatore Guglielmo II.
La doppia chiusa forma, con il canale aperto nella sua parete centrale e la chiusa nord del 1940, il livello del canale di Kleinmachnow, mentre la cosiddetta camera sud è fuori servizio dalla seconda guerra mondiale. L'ente responsabile per la gestione e la manutenzione è l'ufficio idrico e della navigazione di Berlino.
