Il monumento di Waterloo nella Luisenplatz a Wiesbaden ricorda i soldati dell'Esercito Ducale di Nassau caduti nella battaglia di Waterloo del 1815.
Dal 1806, il Ducato di Nassau era stato parte della Confederazione del Reno al fianco di Napoleone. Solo dopo la Battaglia delle Nazioni a Lipsia nel 1813, Nassau cambiò schieramento e combatté da quel momento nelle guerre di liberazione nell'alleanza contro la Francia. Nella battaglia di Waterloo del 1815, le truppe ducale combatterono nell'esercito anglo-olandese. In questa battaglia, 887 soldati nassauensi persero la vita. Per i sopravvissuti fu istituita la medaglia di Waterloo.
