L'edificio era originariamente il municipio della città di Kirchhain, che nel 1950 si è unita a Doberlug per formare l'attuale città di Doberlug-Kirchhain. È un edificio a due piani con tetto a capanna e frontoni a voluta. La sua costruzione è datata tra il 1680 e il 1682. Il vecchio municipio della città di Kirchhain, che aveva già ricevuto il diritto di città tra il 1434 e il 1457, era stato precedentemente distrutto da un incendio.
