Nella comunità di amministrazione di Osterburg del distretto di Stendal in Sassonia-Anhalt, undici comuni erano uniti per gestire i loro affari amministrativi. Ai sei comuni originari si aggiunsero il 1° gennaio 2005 i comuni di Ballerstedt, Flessau, Gladigau e Rossau, provenienti dalla comunità di amministrazione disciolta di Altmärkische Höhe, e il 21 luglio 2005 i comuni di Hindenburg e Walsleben. Hindenburg fu incorporato il 31 dicembre 2008 nel comune di Hohenberg-Krusemark. La sede dell'amministrazione si trovava nella città di Osterburg. Il 1° luglio 2009 dai comuni membri fu formata la città anseatica di Osterburg.
La comunità di amministrazione di Osterburg si trovava nel nord dello stato di Sassonia-Anhalt. Comprendeva una parte della nord-orientale Altmark e la parte sud-occidentale della pianura tedesca Wische. A ovest, la comunità di amministrazione di Osterburg confinava con il distretto di Altmarkkreis Salzwedel. Attraverso il territorio della comunità di amministrazione scorrevano l'Uchte, che sfocia nella Biese a Osterburg.
