Middelfart è una città nella Danimarca centrale, con una popolazione di 16.277 a gennaio 2022. La città è il comune capoluogo del comune di Middelfart sull'isola di Funen. Il nome Middelfart, registrato per la prima volta come "Mæthælfar" nel Libro del Censimento di Valdemar nel 1231, è composto dalla vecchia parola danese mæthal che significa 'mezzo' e far che significa 'via'. Questo nome si riferiva originariamente allo stretto Snævringen, che è la parte più stretta del Piccolo Belt, ed è stato successivamente applicato anche all'insediamento.
