L'Estonia, ufficialmente Repubblica d'Estonia , con capitale Tallinn, è una repubblica parlamentare situata nell'Europa settentrionale, confinante ad est con la Russia e a sud con la Lettonia e bagnata a nord e ad ovest dal Mar Baltico, che la separa dalla Finlandia e dalla Svezia.
È il più settentrionale dei Paesi Baltici, con i quali è spesso accomunata da simili vicende storiche; tuttavia la lingua e la cultura non sono di origine baltica ma ugrofinnica, come la vicina Finlandia, e per questo aspira maggiormente a essere considerata come uno stato nordico.
