Istán è un comune e località spagnola della provincia di Málaga, in Andalusia. Situato sul versante meridionale della Sierra de las Nieves, ha una popolazione di 1520 abitanti. I suoi abitanti celebrano il 29 settembre le feste in onore del loro patrono, san Michele Arcangelo. Il comune di Istán si trova a sud-ovest della provincia di Málaga, nel "piedemonte" delle catene montuose costiere che corrono parallele alla costa occidentale malagueña. Si trova a 15 chilometri a nord-ovest di Marbella.
