È anche il più alto stratovulcano d'Europa.
L'ultima eruzione è avvenuta nel 1909.
Il Teide è tra i 16 vulcani più pericolosi al mondo (ci sono circa 15000 vulcani sulla Terra).
Dal 2007, il "Parque National Del Teide" è stato inserito nella lista del patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO.
