Il castello di Mont-roig si trova sulla sommità omonima a 296 metri sul livello del mare, nel comune di Darnius. È Bene di Interesse Culturale dal 1988.[1] Secondo la leggenda, il nome deriva dal sangue della dama del castello e del suo amante, che furono uccisi dal marito di lei in un attacco di gelosia. Tuttavia, il nome deriva probabilmente dal fatto che il terreno argilloso conferisce tonalità rossastre sia alla montagna che alle pareti del castello, che sfruttano questo materiale. Il castello è visibile da molti punti della regione.
