Rubicón è oggi il nome del paesaggio all'estremità meridionale dell'isola spagnola di Lanzarote, nella zona del comune di Yaiza. Nel XV/XVI secolo, Rubicón era il nome di una fortificazione o città con sede vescovile in questa area.
Il nome Rubicón è uno dei primi toponimi degli europei sull'isola di Lanzarote. Compare già nella cronaca Le Canarien, scritta in lingua francese nel XV secolo. Si ipotizza che il nome Rubicón derivi dal latino rubicundus, che significa rossastro, a causa delle montagne vulcaniche che appaiono parzialmente rosse al sole vista dal mare. Un'altra spiegazione collega il nome al fiume italiano Rubicone, il cui superamento segnò per Giulio Cesare l'impossibilità di tornare indietro.
