Il bacino di Paso Nuevo si trova tra il comune di Benasque e il Plan del Hospital, lungo la strada A-139. La costruzione della diga è stata completata nel 1969, trattenendo le acque del fiume Ésera. Si tratta di una diga a gravità che occupa una superficie di 20 ettari con una capacità massima di 3 Hm³. È principalmente destinato a irrigare le terre della zona e, in secondo luogo, alla produzione di energia elettrica. Il bacino di Paso Nuevo è gestito dalla Confederazione Idrografica dell'Ebro.
