La valle della Val d'Aran è una regione con una propria personalità. Questa zona in alta montagna è l'unica valle atlantica nella parte catalana dei Pirenei. Questa particolare regione ha storicamente avuto un forte legame con l'Occitania nel sud della Francia e anche perchè è rimasta isolata durante l'inverno per secoli, è riuscita a sviluppare una propria lingua – l'Aranese, che è stata riconosciuta come lingua ufficiale in Catalogna – e questa terra conserva molte tradizioni radicate nella cultura del sud della Francia. La Val d'Aran, con le sue vette alte 3000 metri, paesaggi impressionanti e numerosi laghetti glaciali, è un'area ideale per praticare sport avventurosi e per sciare. Qui si trova la stazione sciistica di Baqueira Beret, che è considerata la migliore struttura per sport invernali di tutta la Spagna. Il ricco patrimonio artistico e culturale e l'eccezionale gastronomia locale completano l'offerta attraente di questa zona.
