Fu una delle tre piazze che hanno dato origine alla città di Albacete, situate nei tre punti più alti dell'urbano manchego, dove furono erette due fortezze.[1] Situata su un antico colle, a un'altezza superiore rispetto al suo ambiente circostante, è pedonale e vi si accede tramite scale e rampe. Ospita la facciata sud della cattedrale di San Juan di Albacete e il monumento della Vergine dei Llanos. Riceve il suo nome in onore della Vergine dei Llanos, patrona della città.
