La storia della Corona di Castiglia o Regno di Castiglia e León ebbe inizio con l'unione dei Regni di Castiglia e di León nel 1230 e con la successiva unione delle loro Cortes . In quell'anno, alla morte del padre, Alfonso IX di León, Ferdinando III entrò in possesso del regno di León unendolo al regno di Castiglia, che aveva ereditato dalla madre Berenguela, quando quest'ultima aveva abdicato in suo favore, nel 1217.
