Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines è un comune francese di 5 689 abitanti situato nel dipartimento dell'Alto Reno nella regione del Grand Est.
Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines sorge a ridosso della catena montuosa dei Vosgi e disegna una forma di V nella quale affiora il fiume Lièpvrette, forma che è tipica delle altre tre valli tributarie che si snodano attraverso i tre massicci montuosi del Rombach: Le Petit Rombach, Le Grand Rombach e il Rombach-le-Franc. La valle di Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, odierna Val d'Argent, comprende cinque comuni: Aubure, Lièpvr, Rombach-le-Franc e Sainte-Croix-aux-Mines. Il centro abitato principale si trova a circa 360 metri sul livello del mare, ma il comprensorio tocca i 1 210 metri di altitudine.
