Il campionato europeo di calcio 2016 , noto anche come Euro 2016 o Francia 2016, è stata la 15ª edizione del torneo di calcio per squadre nazionali maschili organizzato dalla UEFA. In precedenza, la stessa nazione aveva ospitato le edizioni del 1960 e del 1984. La principale novità nel formato riguarda l'allargamento del numero di partecipanti da 16 a 24, riprendendo la formula che caratterizzò i campionati mondiali dal 1986 al 1994.
Il torneo si svolse in Francia dal 10 giugno al 10 luglio 2016, data in cui allo Stade de France di Saint-Denis , il Portogallo batté i padroni di casa per 1-0 dopo i tempi supplementari. Con questa vittoria il Portogallo conquista il suo primo titolo. Per la prima volta nella storia della competizione, a vincere il trofeo fu una nazionale giunta al 3º posto del proprio girone eliminatorio.
