L'edificio, opera dell'architetto François Lombard, ospita una biblioteca generale e diversi dipartimenti specializzati su una superficie di 4.000 m² distribuiti su due livelli; le attività sono collocate in spazi confortevoli.
La mediateca situata nel centro della città non accoglie solo lettori, ma tutti i tipi di pubblico che variano a seconda delle attività o degli eventi programmati.
La vocazione della mediateca è quella di mettere la cultura a portata di mano del pubblico che la frequenta.
