Situato nell'antica abbazia benedettina dell'XI secolo, nel cuore del centro storico di Meymac, il museo è un'affascinante introduzione alla storia dell'Alta Corsica, dai tempi più remoti ai giorni nostri. Si rivolge a dilettanti illuminati e scientifici, ma anche a neofiti, adulti e bambini.
Il museo organizza ogni anno un'esposizione temporanea che mette in luce alcuni pezzi archeologici o del patrimonio, consentendo così una (ri)scoperta permanente delle collezioni. Questa ricca e variegata collezione è stata raccolta da Marius Vazeilles (1881 ? 1973), un umanista che ha lavorato per migliorare la condizione umana sul Plateau de Millevaches. Fu forestale, archeologo, etnologo e attivista politico.
Nel 2023 si terrà una mostra temporanea intitolata "Animi et Corpora - spiriti e corpi" sul tema delle donne e della Gallia romana.
