Questa biblioteca è uno degli edifici più belli del XIX secolo a Cahors. In stile neoclassico, è opera dell'architetto Jean Rodolosse che si è ispirato ai grandi modelli del XVIII secolo. Lo spazio interno è organizzato intorno a una grande sala di consultazione rettangolare, organizzata in campate regolari su due livelli, i cui rivestimenti sono interamente ricoperti di libri. Due scale a chiocciola conducono alla galleria superiore. Il soffitto è decorato con ghirlande di foglie e fiori che circondano rosoni. Le collezioni sono molto ricche e combinano manoscritti, incunaboli e stampe. La collezione enciclopedica contiene 40.000 documenti.
