La storia del Priorato di Hérival risale a più di 900 anni fa. Nel 1090, Engidalde costruì una capanna nella valle di Hérival. Alla fine del XIV secolo, i monaci religiosi costruirono una chiesa e degli edifici nella valle di Combeauté, segnando il graduale abbandono del loro carattere eremitico. Un'importante ricostruzione ebbe luogo nel XVIII secolo, ma nel 1789 i contadini si impossessarono con la forza dei titoli di proprietà. Il Priorato fu quindi classificato come proprietà nazionale. Nel 1802, la chiesa e gli edifici monastici furono venduti e demoliti, lasciando solo il Logis des Hôtes, divenuto abitazione e fattoria.
Nel XIX secolo, la famiglia Fleurot si stabilì qui e uno dei loro scheletri di studio è esposto nel portico del Logis des Hôtes. Oggi, sebbene non sia possibile entrare nel cortile privato, i pannelli informativi sotto il portico permettono ai visitatori di scoprire la storia del sito.
