In cima a una collina, il Prieuré rimane l'ultimo testimone del glorioso passato di Châtenois.
Intorno al 1069, Hadwide de Namur, moglie di Gérard d'Alsace, conte di Châtenois e primo duca di Lorena, fondò un Priorato benedettino dedicato a San Pietro e dipendente dall'Abbazia di Toul. Distrutto e ricostruito più volte nel corso della sua storia, questo imponente edificio consisteva in un corpo principale con due ali adiacenti alla chiesa. Oggi rimane solo un'ala. Adiacente alla chiesa e risalente all'ultima ricostruzione dopo un incendio nel XVIII secolo, questa parte è stata utilizzata fino a poco tempo fa come presbiterio.
