Fondata nel I secolo a.C., la capitale del territorio di Convènes (poco più grande dell'odierna Comminges) copriva una superficie di 36 ettari e aveva una popolazione stimata tra i 5.000 e i 10.000 abitanti. I resti più antichi rinvenuti sul sito risalgono all'epoca dell'imperatore Augusto (27-14 a.C.).
Solo una parte del patrimonio antico è ancora oggi visibile, tra cui le terme, il mercato e il teatro.
