La tradizione vuole che la Cappella di San Giacomo dello Stat risalga al periodo carolingio. Della cappella originale rimangono solo il campanile (classificato come monumento storico) e l'antico coro.
Nel 1878 la chiesa fu ampliata e assunse la sua forma definitiva, per accogliere tutti i fedeli.
La chiesa di Saint Jacques du Stat si trova sul percorso estivo dei pellegrini verso Compostela.
L'associazione degli Amici di San Giacomo organizza ogni anno, alla fine di luglio, una festa per celebrare la ricorrenza di San Giacomo.
