Según la tradición, la capilla de Santiago del Estatuto se remonta a la época carolingia. De la capilla original sólo queda el campanario (catalogado como monumento histórico) y el antiguo coro.
En 1878, la iglesia se amplió y adquirió su forma definitiva, para dar cabida a todos los fieles.
La iglesia de Saint Jacques du Stat está situada en la ruta de verano de los peregrinos a Compostela.
La asociación de los Amigos de Santiago organiza cada año, a finales de julio, una fiesta para celebrar la fiesta de Santiago.
