Lago artificiale creato tra le due guerre per le esigenze dell'esercito al fine di sommergere le munizioni in eccesso. Questo spiega la costruzione nel 1923 di una linea ferroviaria per trasportare i materiali necessari alla costruzione della diga e le munizioni, ma il progetto non andò in porto. Oggi è la riserva di acqua potabile della città di Mende.
