Costruito a Ychoux, il fronton è un muro contro cui si gioca la pelota basca. È un elemento architettonico presente in quasi tutte le città e i villaggi dei Paesi Baschi francesi, ma anche nel dipartimento delle Landes.
Il muro si erge alla fine di una piazza aperta che funge da campo di gioco per le seguenti specialità: mano nuda, rebot, joko-garbi, grand chistera, grosse pala, paleta cuir e paleta gomme plein.
Il quadrato aperto è un'area generalmente scoperta costituita da una o due pareti (una per ogni estremità). Ci sono frontoni di tutte le dimensioni (da 10 a 16 metri di larghezza e circa 6-10 metri di altezza), alcuni dei quali sono addirittura coperti.
